A Semen Retention & Sexual Transmutation Worksheet for Realness
Let’s be frank for a second and say that there are few subjects that generate as much confusion, controversy, and outright nonsense as semen retention:
Some people talk about it as though retaining semen for a few weeks will transform you into a literal superhero whereas others dismiss it entirely and act as though our relationship with our sexual and creative energy has no impact on our wellbeing whatsoever but – as with many things – REALNESS is found somewhere in the balance.
From my view and experience (I’ve been doing semen retention for the majority of the last fifteen years), the real purpose of semen retention isn’t to become a monk, a wizard, or a self-appointed guru who spends his days counting streaks and telling everybody how enlightened he is but to simply reconnect with yourself and your life.
Used properly, semen retention can become a powerful tool for developing awareness, integrating suppressed emotions, and directing your energy towards what actually matters – in other words, it can help you become more real.
This is why I created the Semen Retention & Sexual Transmutation Worksheet:
The worksheet isn’t about repression or about shame (quite the opposite, in fact) – nor is it about about pretending sexuality is bad…it’s simply about learning how to stop unconsciously using sexual release as an escape from reality so that you can reconnect with your body, mind, emotions, and life’s natural rhythm.
The entire worksheet (which you can download for free below) is built around the three stages of REALNESS:
Awareness – Deconstruct Ego.
Acceptance – Integrate Shadow.
Action – Trust Ourselves and Life.
This article will tell you how to make the most of it if you’re serious about your semen retention journey and becoming a more real version of yourself.
Let’s dig a little deeper:

Why Semen Retention Matters
Most men have never really examined their relationship with sexuality – they simply react automatically to whatever tension they’re carrying within themselves and use sexual depletion as a method for getting some kind of quick release:
- They feel tension; they seek release.
- They feel lonely; they seek release.
- They feel anxious; they seek release.
- They feel bored; they seek relief.
- They feel fear; they seek release.
- They feel sad; they seek release.
- You get the idea – anything but feel the actual feelings!
The problem is that when sexual release becomes an unconscious coping mechanism, we never actually learn what the underlying tension is trying to teach us and so we lose contact with ourselves and end up living more deeply in the Void.
Semen retention can be a powerful intervention because it interrupts the pattern of trying to escape ourselves and lives and puts us back on track to face reality and start growing WITH it (instead of pushing against it).
When we learn to create space between urge and action then we begin to observe what’s really happening inside us and the end result is often increased clarity, greater self-awareness, deeper emotional connection, and a stronger sense of direction – not because some magical force suddenly descends from the heavens but because we’re finally paying attention.
The 90-Day Challenge
At the heart of the worksheet is a simple 90-day tracking calendar:
The dates are left blank so you can begin whenever you choose but it’s important to remember that the purpose isn’t perfection but AWARENESS.
Tracking your progress also creates accountability and allows you to notice patterns that would otherwise remain invisible – for example:
- Perhaps you always struggle on weekends.
- Perhaps stress triggers stronger urges.
- Perhaps boredom is your biggest challenge.
- Perhaps loneliness is.
In short, the calendar helps transform semen retention from a vague idea into an observable process.
Many people find that aiming for a 90-day streak provides enough time to move beyond the initial discomfort and begin experiencing meaningful changes in how they relate to themselves.
Whether you complete ninety days perfectly or not is beside the point – the real victory is becoming conscious more and more as time keeps progressing (so you don’t need to be shame-driven and perfectionistic about it).
Urge Surfing: Learning to Ride the Wave
One of the most valuable tools in the worksheet is learning to understand the practice of Urge Surfing.
Most people assume urges work like this:
Urge → Must Act
But – in reality – urges work more like waves.
They rise → They peak → They fall.
The problem is that most people jump into action before the wave has a chance to pass and so they never master the underlying emotional ‘stuff’ and physiological sensations that keep feeding into unhelpful sexual habits.
Urge Surfing teaches us to stay present with the sensation without automatically reacting and the worksheet will help you understand the process.
This simple practice develops one of the most important skills a man can possess in all areas of life because it allows you to develop the ability to experience an impulse without becoming enslaved by it.
The goal isn’t to fight the urge but to outlast it.

Awareness: Our Triggers Are Teachers
Most men think urges are the fundamental problem but they’re almost always the symptoms of a fundamental problem that they’re unaware of which is some emotional ‘stuff’ (usually, shame, guilt, and/or trauma – a.k.a. the Unholy Trinity).
The real question to start asking when an urge arises is “What triggered this?” because this is where Awareness begins (and Awareness always leads to Acceptance and then aligned Action).
One of the key sections of the worksheet helps you identify:
- Emotional triggers
- Environmental triggers
- Limiting beliefs
- Stress patterns
- Bodily tension
- Nervous system dysregulation
Every trigger contains information and helps you to learn an important lesson which is that:
Our triggers are teachers.
For example, a craving might reveal loneliness, an urge might reveal anxiety, a fantasy might reveal unmet needs, or a compulsive behaviour might point towards something we’ve been avoiding.
Understanding that “our triggers are teachers” allows us to treat our urges lessons instead of enemies and so we can become curious about them instead of fearing them which allows us to shift into ACCEPTANCE over RESISTANCE.
The Semen Retention & Sexual Transmutation worksheet will help you to track what’s really going on so that you can transform unconscious reactions into conscious understanding.
Learning the Language of the Body
Many men live almost entirely inside their heads because they’ve become become disconnected from the wisdom of their bodies.
This is unfortunate because the body is constantly communicating with us and showing us the way back home (to realness):
- Tight shoulders.
- Shallow breathing.
- Jaw tension.
- Restlessness.
- Fatigue.
- Nervous energy.
- Etc. etc. etc.
All of these signals (and others) often appear long before an urge arises and if we pay attention to them and give these feelings what they need then we can break ourselves free of unhelpful habit loops.
That’s why the worksheet also focuses on nervous system and bodily awareness:
When we’re chronically stressed, overstimulated, or trapped in survival mode then we’re far more likely to seek quick forms of release from the inner tension we’re holding onto but by learning to recognise our physical state, we gain opportunities to regulate ourselves before the urge takes over.
Simple practices such as walking, breathing exercises, meditation, stretching, journalling, strength training, and spending time in nature can all help restore balance.
In short, the more connected we become to our bodies, the more conscious our choices become, and the more we can free ourselves from unhelpful habits like sexual depletion and wasting our creative energy.
Acceptance: Stop Escaping Reality
The next stage is where things get interesting:
Many men discover that once they stop using sexual depletion as an escape route (i.e. using sex and masturbation as a way of avoiding their actual feelings about reality), then long-suppressed emotions begin to (re)surface.
For some men, depending on how long they’ve been masking their true feelings with unhealthy habits then this can be A LOT because of the general rule that what goes up must come down (the higher you go into fantasy and illusion the bigger the crash back down to reality).
Even though this might SUCK in the short-term, it’s actually great for the longer-term goal of healing because you have to feel it to heal it:
The feelings that resurface without the crutch of sexual depletion were actually always there but they were simply being covered up.
It can feel uncomfortable when they start to come back to conscious awareness but it’s also where real transformation begins as it puts us back on the path to being aligned with the truth about who we actually are and what life is.
The choice becomes simple:
Resist the feelings and suffer or accept the feelings and reclaim the energy trapped inside them.
Acceptance doesn’t mean ‘liking’ every feeling – it just means allowing reality to be reality.
When we stop fighting our experience, the energy bound up within it becomes available again, and we become more whole.
Really, this is the essence of shadow integration and another reason that semen retention can be so powerful: it returns us to who we were ‘supposed’ to be before we went into hiding.
Transmuting Emotional Energy
Every emotion contains both information and energy – when we’re open to receiving both of these things from a place of acceptance over resistance then our emotional ‘stuff’ is no longer an obstacle and becomes fuel instead.
The worksheet includes examples of how we can transmute the emotional energy that gets unblocked with semen retention.
For example:
Fear → Reveals your edge and where growth wants to happen.
Anger → Fuel for purpose, boundaries, and decisive action.
Sadness → Connection to what truly matters and way of completing the past.
Loneliness → A reminder to seek genuine connection.
Anxiety → Energy seeking direction and grounding.
Shame → An invitation to reconnect with truth.
Etc. etc. etc.
The goal isn’t to eliminate emotions but to integrate them by actually feeling them – once integrated, their energy becomes available for transmutation into creation instead of destruction.
Action: Trust Ourselves and Life
It’s at this point that we can see for sure that semen retention is something much bigger than merely “not ejaculating” – in fact, the point isn’t retention for the sake of itself but for the point of transmutation.
We can define transmutation as the transformation of something into a higher or more REAL form.
In this case, trapped energy that was previously leaking through unconscious habits can now be directed towards conscious growth, real purpose, real relationships, meaningful contribution, and towards life itself.
Action is where Awareness and Acceptance become real because without action, nothing really changes in any meaningful way (though of course change is always unfolding in some way).
The worksheet therefore helps users channel their energy into three practical areas: Vision, Goals, and Habits.
Vision: Becoming the Man You Actually Want to Be
Many men know what they want to escape from but far fewer know what they’re moving towards.
That’s why the worksheet includes a Vision section:
Vision isn’t a nice little fantasy or dream about what you want from your life – it’s a reality-based direction for going deeper into wholeness.
Your vision helps answer questions like:
- What kind of man do I want to become?
- What values matter most to me?
- What would living in a real way look like?
- What would I regret not doing?
A compelling vision provides a destination for the energy being reclaimed through semen retention and this is why – without a vision – retention often becomes an unsatisfying end in itself.
There’s no point reclaiming your energy if you’re not going to direct it anywhere – actually, if you don’t have a place to direct it then the energy will just turn against you and you’ll end up becoming restless and distracted. A lot of guys on semen retention end up getting frustrated and it’s literally for this one reason: their energy is currently bigger than their vision.
Create a bigger vision than your energy and grow into it then semen retention becomes a vehicle for real growth.
Goals: Turning Vision into Reality
A vision without goals remains a dream and so goals are important to break the larger vision into manageable steps.
The worksheet helps users identify your goals so that you can keep moving forward in a consistent and disciplined way.
Every meaningful achievement begins with consistent small steps:
Goals create structure, structure creates momentum, and momentum creates transformation.
Habits: Building Realness Daily
We also have a section on the worksheet to focuses on habits because regardless of what we say we value, our daily actions reveal who we are becoming.
The worksheet encourages users to establish habits that support the man they wish to become – for example:
- Exercise
- Meditation
- Breathwork
- Reading
- Journalling
- Prayer
- Walking
- Strength training
- Creative work
- Relationship building
- Skill development
- Time in nature
The specific habits matter less than the principle which is that every habit should move you towards reality rather than away from it.

The Final Word: The Real Purpose of Semen Retention & Sexual Transmutation
Sexual transmutation isn’t mystical – it’s a practical of consciously directing energy towards what matters.
Instead of wasting life energy through unconscious reactions, it will help you to learn to invest it into growth, purpose, connection, creativity, service, and meaningful action.
In relation to your REALNESS, sexual transmutation is simply another way of returning to reality:
Awareness helps us see what’s happening.
Acceptance helps us stop resisting what’s happening.
Action helps us respond to what’s happening.
The result isn’t perfection but greater alignment with who we really are.
The Semen Retention & Sexual Transmutation worksheet is designed to help men reconnect with their bodies, understand their emotions, trust themselves more deeply, and participate more fully in life and that, ultimately, is what realness is all about.
